Live Different.

A community for those of us exploring
the space between the Church and culture.

A community for those of us who want to live life and faith different. The podcast explores ideas, questions, stories and unfiltered conversation that wrestles with the space between the Church and culture, and what it means to follow Jesus on the margins, beyond religion, in the spotlight and backstage.

The purpose of life is not to be happy.  It is to be useful, to be honourable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived, and lived well.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.

Spread love everywhere you go.  Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier.

Mother Teresa

redcarpetlife™ Manifesto.

We live in a culture obsessed with self. Each new trend preaches something else we “have” to have as it beautifully presents, strategically markets and discreetly preys itself on our wants and needs. This distracts us. It catches our eye. It lures us in. And before we know it, our focus is caught up with the bright lights of success, glitz, glam, fame, fortune, power, prestige and position.

At the heart of this is the human need for purpose. We long for meaning. We crave significance. We all just want to know we matter, that our lives are worth something and that in some small way we lived having made a difference.

Therefore this pursuit will never end. The more we want, the more we “need,” the more we “need,” the more we want. This becomes our default focus and our unfulfilled purpose until we realize WE are the bright light put on earth to give, love, encourage, uplift, offer, help and shine for other people.

Red Carpet Life is a movement.

We’re a movement of people that believe true significance is found not in demanding the spotlight for yourself, but in being a light for other people.

We are here to serve, not be served.

We believe red – a color that commands presence, power, passion, significance and boldness – exists inside each and every person. We could spend our whole lives demanding such presence for ourselves, or we can share it and use it for the good of other people to call attention to the lost, lonely, hurting and broken.

We believe each individual is a uniquely woven strand of fabric in the big picture carpet of life. We could stand alone, selfishly living only for ourselves, or we can stand in community, united, braided together in connectedness for the greater purpose. We believe it is only in and through collective we are truly able to expand our reach and extend our legacy as we lay ourselves down for other people.

We believe life is a style – to live in such a way that what we care about most is expressed in the way we talk, walk, how we spend our time and where we invest our heart. We can live to take, or we can live to give. We choose give. Always. This is how we choose to “fashion” our life because this is our lifestyle.

We are #RedCarpetLife.

We are ordinary, everyday people willing to take a stand on what it means to live an extraordinary life. We’re here to re-adjust the spotlight and re-define success because we believe true significance is found when we roll out our lives in service to others.

This is our message.
This is our movement.

How Purging Your Life Can Help You Find Your Purpose

I admit. I’m a bit of a minimalist junkie these days. The relaxation I feel when I clear away clutter is almost like lounging poolside at an all-inclusive resort. Nerdy, but true. There’s just something so freeing about purging the…

How Laryngitis Reminded Me Of Millions Of Women Without A Voice.

I guess that’s what happens when you speak at a retreat. All day Friday I talked. All day Saturday I talked. All day Sunday I talked. On Monday I woke up and my throat had called it quits – which…

A Syrian Refugee Story – This Is How The World Is Changed

I often get asked about my involvement sponsoring a Syrian refugee family here in Canada. Part of my interest is simply a human response - supporting parents and children fleeing a hideous war seems like the right thing to do.…
